Shot at the Bethesda Fountain in Central Park.

In the background, you can see the photoshoot that was featured in the previous image on this blog.

That's what I like about New York; so much can go on at the same time in a relatively small area.

Just as each town has the one spot where wedding photographers take their clients for the formal portraits, so New York City has the Bethesda Fountain area in Central Park, where fashion photographers do many of their location shoots.

Being a photographer, I wondered about this pro's setup - he had multiple cameras taped together for a stereo effect - and was happy to discover that like me he has to struggle with a model's hair blowing in all directions. Difference is that I'm by myself and he had a crew of eight assisting him.

I don't think this shot would make it to the magazine...

Sudden downpours in New York City often lead to good photo opportunities: people coming soaked out of Central Park, people running through town, people braving the rain to hail a cab and people using the first thing they can get their hands on to ward off the rain, such as this guy with his plastic bag...

Wandering a bit through Central Park yesterday and took a few shots.

I often have trouble shooting in NYC, because the city has been photographed so well over so many years that I find it hard to add an angle that I haven't seen somewhere else already.

I guess the city gives me the photographic equivalent of 'writer's block.'

Well, yesterday I tried again and I will post some of the shots here.

Another shot taken in Holland, on that rainy day. The weather actually improved after that, to be fair to my country.

I'm now in the US and hopefully will find the time to add more images to this blog soon.

I seem to have a knack for being in Holland during really bad summer weather, like today.

It feels like fall, but apparently these hardy surfers quite enjoy days like these, with rain, wind and 12 degrees centigrade (in Fahrenheit: too cold).

I'm just waiting for better weather (and for internet access with the computer that also runs my photo programs...)

  <title>Going, going, gone..., Cyprus</title>

Even though Cyprus is an island, it is surprisingly inward oriented. Meat is the staple, not fish. Farming is big, fishing is not. The largest city by far is smack in the middle of the island, instead of on the coast.

Still, there are some spots that remind you of a typical Mediterranean island. Kyrenia is one, the harbor in Pafos is one and this little cove at Liopetri is another one.

However, this tranquil fishing cove is slowly overwhelmed by development in the area.

Unless the global recession puts the brakes on Brits buying Cyprus land and houses, in a few years, Liopetri will be surrounded by cookie-cutter houses with big satellite dishes in the gardens.

Picking up the blog again. A move restricted shooting time and access to my image hard drives.

This image was shot at Waterworld in Ayia Napa.
